The Family Tree

I love Christmastime.  And Christmas music.  And Christmas decorations.  And the Christmas spirit.  And I guess this week I’m just running with The Holiday theme…oh, and family.

Last year at this time I was kind of bummed.  Wait?  Who am I kidding?  I was totally and completely depressed.  I was hours and hours away from my family.  I was [thankful to be] working a job I absolutely hated that only allotted just enough time to spend more time driving than spending time with family at Christmas.  Yes, Mr. Husband and I were in the car the entire Christmas break than we did anything else…including sleeping.  And leading up to Christmas, I just couldn’t shake the funk.  I wasn’t even excited, just sad.  And my best friend sent me what is now my favorite Christmas album (which may live on my iPod all year round…).  Dave Barnes A Very Merry Christmas.

And dude…you have to hear this song…

We’re older now

We all have changed

But we all laugh at the same old things

We’ll spend the night with memories

Gathered around the family tree….

Fitting, right?  Yeah.  I thought so.
