time out [98]

holy crap! i’m on day 98, ya’ll! how has the time passed oh so quickly!!??
Once again, my lovely wedding photographer has inspired me. I have been struggling lately with all this desire but no motivation. Every time I sit down to work on any of my writing I end up browsing around on twitter or facebook and before I know it the entire day has passed, and I have accomplished nothing. I hate that!

I have been really trying lately to put my writing in the forefront of my life, but that is just so hard with a full-time job and planning a wedding. My creative writing professors used to stress to us that if we don’t write everyday we will lose our motivation. so true.

I finally created a wrting schedule (more about that later!) and now it’s my job to stick to it. But how? Well, Mrs. Nancy Ray uses this neat little device (pictured above) to keep her focused and motivated. At first I thought what good is a ticking timer really going to do me if I’m just not motivated. Uh, well, it does a lot! There’s just something about setting aside a specific amount of time to accomplish something in and something keeping track of it. When the ticker ticks, I work diligently. I don’t stray from my projects (much…if at all). I hate letting myself down, so when I set a goal for myself,I really like to see it accomplished.

So thank you, Mr. Timer. My writing world is a little more organized!
